This week, we submitted the letter to our landlord terminating the lease on our apartment. Our departure from Germany and return to the United States just became very real! It\u2019s a strange feeling to know that after nearly three years, we will be moving to another place to start a new home. We have grown accustomed to our apartment and neighborhood, and the girls’ feel at home in their schools. This move is just another reminder that as Christians, we are not really at home anywhere in this world. “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come” Hebrews 13:14.<\/p>\n

As we prepare to say goodbye to people we love and the familiar rhythm of life in Germany, we are reminded of all the ways God has gone before us on this familiar road of transition. When we first prepared to move to Germany, we did not know where we would live, how to speak the language, or how to function in the culture. With God’s grace, we adjusted to life here and even learned to thrive. We’ve made many treasured friends and learned our place over time. Changes are not easy for any of us and adjustments take time. Please pray for us as our family prepares for some big changes, once again, in three short months. Pray for all of us to be open to what God wants to teach us, and how the Spirit wants to minister to and through us. Returning successfully to our \u201cHeimatland\u201d (birth country) will depend on these prayers.<\/p>\n
