CHICAGO, IL (September 4, 2009) \u2013 A special five-part series of articles focusing on \u201cCriminal Justice and the Church\u201d begins Monday, part of a collaborative effort on the part of the Christian Action Commission and the Department of Compassion, Mercy and Justice of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

\nThis special series will share the facts, stories, and resources related to the issue of criminal justice. Read about how the families of both victims and perpetrators have been affected by crime and incarceration. Learn how many women, children, and persons of color are affected by rising incarceration rates. See what churches are already doing to be the hands and feet of Christ in the nation\u2019s overcrowded prisons and busy courtrooms.<\/p>\n

\u201cLearn some new facts and hear some new voices,\u201d reads a special invitation from the commission and the department. \u201cWrestle with complicated issues – talk to others in your church about what you think.\u201d Read the resolution<\/a> and download a one-page resource sheet<\/a> and one-page discussion guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This is the first year that individuals and churches have the opportunity to submit feedback on a resolution before it is voted on at an annual meeting. The deadline to submit feedback to the commission is October 1.<\/p>\n
