WILLOUGHBY HILL, OH (August 26, 2009) \u2013 First Covenant Church<\/a> celebrated its 120th anniversary on Sunday.

\nOne hundred people attended the event, including Great Lakes Conference<\/a> Superintendent Dick Lucco and Bethany Covenant Church<\/a> Pastor Greg Applequist. Don Davenport, who serves with the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism, preached.<\/p>\n

Andrea Anelli, a church member and singer with the opera Per Tutti<\/em>, performed as did a pianist from the Cleveland Institute of Music.<\/p>\n

Although the church has an average attendance of around 40 people, \u201cWe have a very high-quality music program,\u201d notes Pastor William Nyerges.<\/p>\n

The congregation produced a commemorative booklet and DVD that highlight the church\u2019s history and current ministry. Members also shared reflections during a dinner program on ways in which the church\u2019s ministry has touched their lives.<\/p>\n

The church developed its theme based on Hebrews 10:23 \u2013 \u201cLet us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
