PORTLAND, OR (August 18, 2009) \u2013 Covenant Retirement Communities<\/a> (CRC) has turned over operations of Irvington Village<\/a> to Elder Place Providence Hospital.

\nCRC has operated the assisted living apartment building for financially disadvantaged senior adults since it opened in 2002. CRC retains the property.<\/p>\n

The arrangement will enable Irvington Village to continue operating and even expand services to residents, according to Colette Claxton of CRC.<\/p>\n

The apartments had operated at an annual loss of $1 million, but Elder Place Providence Hospital has access to reimbursement resources not available to CRC, Claxton says. All residents have been able to remain in their apartments with no interruption of services, and all Irvington Village staff members have been retained.<\/p>\n

Residents will have access to more services as part of the agreement, Claxton says. Those include an on-site medical clinic that Elder Place Providence Hospital will establish.<\/p>\n

The state of Oregon has approved the new arrangement, which became effective August 1.<\/p>\n

CRC is administered by Covenant Ministries of Benevolence<\/a> on behalf of the Evangelical Covenant Church.<\/p>\n
