WINNIPEG, MB (August 18, 2009) \u2013 CBC Legacy Fund scholarships of $500 are now available to students affiliated with Evangelical Covenant churches within the Canada Conference.
\n
\nThe students must be \u201cenrolled in theological, biblical or discipleship programs that equip men and women to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, through spiritual formation, biblical knowledge, Christian service, and intentional community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The awards are distributed on a \u201cfirst come, first serve\u201d basis. A limited number of awards have been reserved for the descendants of CBC alumni who reside in Canada or who are attending Canadian programs that meet the CBC Legacy Fund qualifications.<\/p>\n

Applicants must be nominated for the award by a pastor or council member of an Evangelical Covenant Church within the Canadian Conference. If the CBC alumni descendant is not attending an Evangelical Covenant Church, the home church pastor may submit a nomination form.<\/p>\n

This is the second year for the scholarships. Last year, 10 awards were made to students attending nine different programs, says Phil Wright, the conference director of discipleship initiatives.<\/p>\n

The fund derives from a portion of the sale of the CBC campuses. \u201cWe use the interest gained from this self-perpetuating fund for these bursaries, as well as for supporting other discipleship initiatives such as our Camp Ministry Team, Life Together and other initiatives that are in development stages,\u201d Wright says.<\/p>\n

North Park Theological Seminary Announces Lund Lectures<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHICAGO, IL – The annual Nils W. Lund Memorial Lectures will be given September 23-24 in Isaacson Chapel in North Park Theological Seminary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lectures are given in two parts. Part one begins at 9 a.m., and part two begins at 10:45 a.m. There will be a 15-minute break between the lectures.<\/p>\n

Dr. Andrew Dearman professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary, will present “Jerusalem: Her Names, Her Heritage, Her Transformation” on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Dr. Markus Bockmuehl, professor of Biblical and Early Christian Studies at Keble College, Oxford, will give the New Testament address on Thursday. He will lecture on \u201cWhere is Paradise \u2013 and Why Should It Matter?\u201d and \u201cMessianic Prophecy and Abraham\u2019s Faith in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lund Lectures are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Walk-a-thon to Raise Money for Enabling Residences<\/strong><\/p>\n

DULUTH, MN – Covenant Enabling Residences of Minnesota<\/a> will hold its first Walk-a-thon September 12.<\/p>\n

The walk will begin at 10 a.m. Participants can walk between one to five miles.<\/p>\n
