GREENSBORO, NC (August 6, 2009) \u2013 Fourteen-year-old Samuel Lankford, who attends Trinity Covenant Church<\/a>, has been named North Carolina\u2019s top popcorn salesman for the Boy Scouts of America and the fifth-best in the nation.

\nLankford sold $15,350 worth of popcorn during the national organization\u2019s four-week fundraiser. A student from Lubbock, Texas, was the top seller with $22,022 in sales.<\/p>\n

Lankford has been selling the popcorn for eight years, since he joined the Cub Scouts when he was a first-grader. Last year he sold more than $12,000.<\/p>\n

The Star Scout still has the top national sales spot in his sights and hopes his sound business practices will help him reach that goal. He told the Greensboro News & Record, \u201cI have built a list of clientele (during the eight years). I have the names and addresses of all my customers. I let them know when I will come by (their home or business).\u201d

\nNorthwest Conference Events Celebrate 125th Anniversary<\/strong><\/p>\n

MINNEAPOLIS, MN \u2013 Two celebrations honoring the 125th anniversary of the Northwest Conference<\/a> of the Evangelical Covenant Church will be held in later this month and in September.<\/p>\n

The first celebration will be held August 16 at Salem Covenant Church<\/a> in Pennock, Minnesota. The day will begin with worship at 10:30 a.m. followed by a hog roast and program that will feature music and drama. People planning to attend are encouraged to email an RSVP<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The second celebration will begin at 6 p.m. September 27 at First Covenant Church<\/a> in Minneapolis. A children\u2019s choir will sing and North Park Theological Seminary Professor Phil Anderson will present a historical review. Efrem Smith, pastor of Sanctuary Covenant Church and a member of the Conference Executive Board, will share a message.<\/p>\n

Christos, Seminary to Offer Seminars in Gig Harbor<\/strong><\/p>\n
