CHICAGO, IL (February 6, 2006) – A four-minute ABC Television segment as part of Sunday’s pre-game show for Super Bowl XL featured Kathy Holmgren, wife of Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, and the couple’s daughter, Calla, who are part of an eight-member medical team working at the Karawa hospital in northwestern Congo.<\/p>\n
ABC dispatched a film crew to the Democratic Republic of Congo to interview the Holmgrens \u2013 quite a feat, given the difficulty in accessing the remote and rugged jungle area where the medical team is working. That trip captured the attention of media worldwide \u2013 the fascinating story of a Super Bowl coach’s wife being half a world away, ministering to hurting people in Congo, while her husband and his team played the biggest game of the season \u2013 and perhaps the biggest game many of them will experience in their sports careers.<\/p>\n
