{"id":7752,"date":"2006-05-26T16:28:33","date_gmt":"2006-05-26T21:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/newswire\/?p=7752"},"modified":"2011-07-06T08:32:29","modified_gmt":"2011-07-06T13:32:29","slug":"4927","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/newswire\/2006\/05\/26\/4927\/","title":{"rendered":"Marriage Training Offered at Three Sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTIN, TX (May 26, 2006) &#8211; One of the first training sessions in the United States  for a marriage course organized by the same church that produced the popular  Alpha material will be held June 26 at St. Barnabas the Encourager Evangelical  Covenant Church here.  <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Austin, three other cities will be sites for the one-day  training: Greenland, New Hampshire, on June 21; Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June  23; and Marin, California, on June 28.<\/p>\n<p>Nicky and Silla Lee, who designed the course in 1996, are on staff at Holy  Trinity Brompton, England in Brompton, England. Like Alpha, the course has  proved popular in England.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is $159 for a couple and $99 for individuals. Course leaders  recommend that couples participate in the training together.<\/p>\n<p>Registration for any of the conferences can be made online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themarriagecourseusa.org\/m\/%20marr_5a.html\">Registration<\/a> or  by calling 1-866-872-5742.<\/p>\n<p>The marriage course is held over eight evenings. Topics covered include  learning to communicate effectively, resolving conflict, healing past hurts,  recognizing each other&#8217;s needs and how to make each other feel loved, as well as  relationships with parents and in-laws, the importance of good sex, and how to  have fun together.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara Black, wife of Pastor Jeff Black, says, &#8220;There are a lot of marriage  courses out there, and Jeff and I have been to several, but this is the best.  This one is so accessible to people outside the church.
