CHICAGO, IL (May 8, 2006) – Hardly a week goes by that we do not receive a few comments from readers on stories published as part of the Covenant online news report.<\/p>\n

We will share from time to time some of those responses generated through the “comments” link attached to each published story. This kind of feedback is very helpful to our Covenant News Service staff as we seek to identify and publish stories of great interest to a broad spectrum of online readers of this report.<\/p>\n

Covenanters Join Marches in L.A., Chicago<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pam Darsie<\/em> of Cambridge, MN, writes: So we are supporting and encouraging the lawbreakers? I don’t get it. Please help me understand why we – the Evangelical Covenant Church of AMERICA – would do this.<\/p>\n

Dave Oseland<\/em> of Skokie, IL, writes: Frankly, I find it outrageous that these ministers would participate in this march for “illegals.” The question is put: “What would Jesus do?” Would he indeed support those who would knowingly break the law? I think not! We all are in support of immigrants, but let’s not ever get to the point where we can justify wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

Central Conference Approves Immigration Resolution<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Eva Sullivan-Knoff<\/em> writes: I am deeply heartened and encouraged to hear of the passing of this resolution. I was not able to be present for the annual meeting, but this is an issue that affects all of us. Our Hispanic brothers and sisters are a part of our body and when one part of the body hurts, we all hurt. God commanded us in the scriptures to care for the orphans and widows and refugees in our land. To not care about this issue would be to sin against our brothers and sisters and God. I am thankful that our ministerium responded to this issue and by so doing embraced our Hispanic brothers and sisters, and affirmed that we are one body.<\/p>\n

We need to be strong and resist the xenophobic fear-mongering and racism inherent in the “reform” as passed by the Republican House of Mis-Representatives.
