CHICAGO, IL (June 28, 2006) – Hardly a week goes by that we do not receive a few comments from readers on stories published as part of the Covenant online news report.<\/p>\n
We will share from time to time some of those responses generated through the \u201ccomments\u201d link attached to each published story. This kind of feedback is very helpful to our Covenant News Service staff as we seek to identify and publish stories of great interest to a broad spectrum of online readers of this report.<\/p>\n

New DVD Takes Fun Look at CHIC History<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Bonnie Siems<\/em> of Plato Center, IL, writes: I’m in my 60’s . . . going to CHIC for my first time, because our pastor said I could go and help as a staff person. I pray for and appreciate you both.<\/p>\n Annual Meeting Stories to Remain Available<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Sheldon Peterson<\/em> of St. Petersburg, FL, writes: To the Communications staff: THANKS! As a life-long Covenanter, I am so thrilled to go to this website at least once each day and be “up-to-date” on Covie news. And the Annual Meeting coverage is the best. I remember my conversation with Don Meyer in the early days of his tenure, when he said that in a year or two, the Annual Meetings will be Internet broadcast. Now we just about take it for granted. For so many years kids had to have jobs that paid if they were to keep up with school. That was not at camp. I met some of those great kids last summer and am happy to hear that some of the same are returning to our camps this summer. I hope you can keep on encouraging our young people in this way. PS: I’m still looking for something more than the pictures of the commissioning of career\/project\/short-term missionaries (in coverage of the 121st Annual Meeting). We need to know who they are and where they will be serving – and in what capacity. It might even help to support them if you word it right? The global picture was so evident in so much of the planning for the Annual Meeting. Let’s give some recognition to those who are answering the call to serve outside our borders, too.<\/p>\n Delegate Summary, Financial Reports Available Online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Linda Forbes<\/em> of Chicago, IL, writes: Thank you! I know how much work this is and how tired you all must be!<\/p>\n Resolution on Immigration<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Marisol Medina<\/em> of Cicero, IL, writes: I applaud the Covenant Church for approving the Resolution on Immigration presented at the Annual Meeting. How a person came to this country should not be our major focus. The fact is that he\/she is here and needs to experience God’s compassion, justice and mercy through his kingdom people, regardless of our earthly, personal political views.<\/p>\n Walter Contreras<\/em> of Montclair, CA, writes: Someone once said, “A picture paints a thousand words.” The Covenant has done the right thing in approving this resolution. It is not perfect, but it gives us a better picture than no picture it all. Thank you Covenantors. We don’t have to stand alone on this issue.<\/p>\n Older Stories<\/strong><\/p>\n Occasionally we receive comments about stories published some time ago. Please note that Chaplain Assistants (combatants) accompany chaplains (non-combatants) for security purposes as well as for other duties in assisting their chaplain.
