KNOXVILLE, TN (July 24, 2006) – Lillie Harrison attended her first CHIC event. She is 86 years old.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey didn\u2019t have CHIC when I was a teenager,\u201d she says, adding she never thought of attending any others. Then three weeks ago she felt called to be a member of the CHIC Prayer Team. \u201cThe Lord just said \u2018Go.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we should always be serving the Lord,\u201d says Harrison, who lives at Covenant Village of Golden Valley in Minneapolis, Minnesota.<\/p>\n
Harrison says she always has had a heart for teenagers as well as prayer. For four and a half years in the 1950s, she worked with a group of teenagers who initiated a prayer meeting that lasted late into the night every Thursday evening, except Thanksgiving and Christmas. \u201cI said we are going to pray aloud so I know you\u2019re awake,\u201d she recalls.<\/p>\n
\u201cI very much have a heart for teenagers because they are the future leaders of our church; they are the future leaders of our country,\u201d Harrison says.<\/p>\n
Harrison stands a little over four feet, but teenagers sought her out for prayer during Tuesday night\u2019s worship as they sought healing for inner pain. She represents the image of a loving grandmother to many of the students, says Martha Swanson, coordinator of the Prayer Team.<\/p>\n
Harrison was determined to stay in the late-night worship service despite the sound volume of some of the bands. \u201cI have hearing aids – and I take them out,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
