PORTLAND, OR (June 26, 2009) \u2013 Delegates to the 124th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church today elected David Olson to be the new executive minister of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism (CGE).

\nDave Kersten also was re-elected to another four-year term as executive minister of the Department of the Ordered Ministry.<\/p>\n

Olson was nominated to fill the vacancy left when Gary Walter was elected president during last year\u2019s Annual Meeting. Olson previously served as the department\u2019s director of church planting. He will assume his duties September 1.<\/p>\n

Kersten has served since 2001. During his tenure, the department has developed the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence program, among other initiatives.<\/p>\n
