RED WING, MN (June 18, 2009) \u2013 Funeral services for Nettie Vera (Hrichena) Langager, 84, widow of Evangelical Covenant Church Pastor Eldor Langager, will be conducted on Wednesday, June 24, at First Covenant Church<\/a>. She died at her home Wednesday morning.

\nVisitation will be observed from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, June 23, and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, which begins at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Anderson officiating.<\/p>\n

She was born February 5, 1925, in Max, North Dakota, the daughter of Ehnat and Vera (Kabanuk) Hrichena, \u201csincere Christians who raised their family on a farm near Sawyer, North Dakota,\u201d the family notes. She attended school until 8th grade and was a graduate of a non-denominational Bible school in Minot, North Dakota.<\/p>\n

She married Eldor Langager of Epping, North Dakota, on June 8, 1947. He was an ordained minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church.<\/p>\n

The couple served Mission Covenant Church in Dale, Minnesota; Evangelical Covenant Church in Ceresco, Nebraska; Mission Covenant Church in Thief River Falls, Minnesota; West Bay Covenant Church in Traverse City, Michigan; Evangelical Covenant Church in Braham, Minnesota; Evangelical Covenant Church in Owatonna, Minnesota; Zion Covenant Church in Ellsworth, Wisconsin; Emmanuel Covenant Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Calvary Covenant Church in Stockholm, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe loved being a pastor\u2019s wife and was always actively involved with the Women\u2019s ministry in their churches,\u201d the family writes. \u201cThey moved to Red Wing in 1986 where they enjoyed their retirement years, moving to Potter Ridge Assisted Living in July 2006 where she was a devoted caregiver to her husband for his last 14 years. Eldor passed away November 2007. She had a wonderful soprano voice and used her talent of music daily, singing hymns of praise to God. She was a gifted soloist and also enjoyed singing in church choirs. She was a great cook and loved to entertain people in their home. She cherished spending time with her family and many friends.\u201d She was a member of the First Covenant Church of Red Wing.<\/p>\n

Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Sherill) of Waseca, Minnesota, and Rev. Nathan (Karen) of Escanaba, Michigan; one daughter, Margaret (Dean) Anderson of Bay City, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.\u00a0 She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister.<\/p>\n

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with burial in Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing.<\/p>\n
