CHICAGO, IL (May 29, 2009) \u2013 The Paul Carlson Partnership<\/a> (PCP) is planning to resume volunteer medical teams to Congo. It has been several years since the last teams traveled to the country.

\nThe Congo Covenant Church (CEUM) has asked that more teams be sent.<\/p>\n

In addition to other medical professionals, PCP has a need for specialists in dentistry and ophthalmology. Volunteers are asked to pay their own costs, whether from their own resources or through a church or other group that might sponsor them. Each trip will last two to three weeks.<\/p>\n

The ability to provide and support medical treatment could impact the ability of PCP to obtain a grant for rebuilding the Zulu hydroelectric system, which would bring reliable electricity to the hospital at Karawa.<\/p>\n

PCP has been invited to submit a grant proposal for a USAID program related to hospitals or schools. One of the grant considerations is the level of involvement on the part of medical personnel at the hospital.

\nDeadline Approaching for Church Accessibility Grant Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHICAGO, IL – Churches in Chicago and surrounding counties have until June 26 to submit accessibility grant applications to the Retirement Research Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Accessible Faith Grant Program enables houses of worship in Lake, Cook, and DuPage counties to make accessibility improvements to their facilities. Since the program began six years ago, the foundation has awarded 92 grants totaling nearly $2 million to congregations.<\/p>\n
