CHICAGO, IL (August 17, 2007) \u2013 Covenant World Relief (CWR) funds are already at work, assisting earthquake victims in Peru.

\nThe 8.0-magnitude quake shook much of Peru on Thursday. Hundreds are confirmed dead and more than a thousand others are injured, according to World Relief.\u00a0 Nearly 17,000 families have been affected by the disaster, and the death toll continues to rise.<\/p>\n
Up to $30,000 being used by World Relief International for initial assistance for earthquake victims in Peru was provided by CWR, director Jim Sundholm says. World Relief\u00a0 International uses these Covenant funds on a regular basis to provide immediate assistance when responding to disasters.<\/p>\n
Churches wishing to assist victims of Wednesday\u2019s deadly earthquake in Peru may donate funds through Covenant World Relief (CWR), says Sundholm.<\/p>\n
Checks sent by churches or individuals to CWR should designate them for Peru earthquake recovery. They may be sent to Evangelical Covenant Church, Covenant World Relief, 5101 N. Francisco Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625.<\/p>\n
