PORTLAND, OR (June 22, 2007) \u2013 David Johnson, the retiring president of National Covenant Properties, was lauded by his colleagues during this afternoon\u2019s business session of the 122nd Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

\n\"Johnson\"Delegates gave him a lengthy standing ovation. \u201cI hope the staff is watching back at the office on the Internet,\u201d Johnson joked.<\/p>\n

President Glenn Palmberg presented Johnson with a plaque in honor of his service. Many people have come to know Christ because of Johnson\u2019s work, he said, adding, \u201cGo with a great satisfaction and a great sense of fulfillment to the next stage of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under Johnson\u2019s guidance since 1975, NCP has grown dramatically, funding much of the church construction in the denomination. See” Johnson Reflection” for more detail.<\/p>\n

Johnson\u2019s successor, Stephen Dawson, noted the growth, which has seen assets grow from $8 million to more than $260 million. \u201cI have no intention of reversing those trends,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
