CHICAGO, IL (June 13, 2007) \u2013 Two Evangelical Covenant Church camps will celebrate their 60th anniversaries this summer.
\n
\nCamp Mission Meadows in Dewittville, New York, and Covenant Harbor Bible Camp in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, will hold special events to mark the occasions.<\/p>\n
Mission Meadows will hold an open house and dedicate its new chapel on July 1. The grounds will open at 2 p.m. and a dedication service will be held for the new chapel at 4 p.m. The service will take place in the chapel, although the building won\u2019t be completed until near the end of the year. Speakers will include past campers and a 10-year-old current camper.<\/p>\n
Covenant Harbor will celebrate its anniversary each Sunday of the summer, beginning this week and running through August 12. Festivities will include public worship services in a lakeside tent at 10:30 a.m., and an opportunity to picnic, swim and enjoy the grounds for the afternoon.<\/p>\n
The theme of the anniversary celebration is \u201cSome things change . . . One thing remains,\u201d based on Hebrews 13:8, \u201cJesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
Preachers throughout the series will be people serving in full time ministry who spent formative time at the Harbor on staff or as campers. The musicians also have long ties to the camp. Former staff and campers also will testify to the influence of the camp on their lives.<\/p>\n
Historic photographs will be on display. A photographic history of the camp\u2019s first 10 years, called \u201cThe Mansion Years\u201d will be for sale, along with anniversary T-shirts featuring the Mansion and the Worship Tent.<\/p>\n
