REDWOOD CITY, CA (May 29, 2007) \u2013 Members of Peninsula Covenant Church (PCC)<\/a> put their sweat and blood into helping a local school and community during the church\u2019s second “Beautiful Day.”

\n\"\"On May 19, the church joined with two other area congregations to complete assorted projects at Roosevelt Elementary School and sponsor a blood drive. The churches are part of a network of \u201cBeautiful Day\u201d<\/a> churches in the San Francisco area seeking to creatively serve the community in collaboration with businesses, organizations and schools.<\/p>\n

At the recent event, 375 participants, including school staff and parents, completed five landscaping projects and redecorated rooms. Other projects included planting a garden and painting portions of the kindergarten playground. A teacher had planned the garden but had no idea how he was going to get it planted until the volunteers showed up, says Daisey Segal, of PCC. During the event, a Hispanic church that meets at the school provided a fiesta lunch.<\/p>\n

The day provided the opportunity for the church to share Christian love, Segal says. \u201cI talked to a Roosevelt parent who asked many questions about PCC and was overwhelmed with our service in the name of Jesus.\u201d She learned her own lesson at the school: \u201cThe love of Christ can move a mountain\u2014a mountain of ivy and junipers.<\/p>\n
