CHICAGO, IL (April 17, 2007) \u2013 North Park University President David Parkyn released a statement Monday evening expressing his sorrow over the shooting deaths at Virginia Tech on Monday.

\n“On behalf of everyone at North Park University, I offer heartfelt condolences to President Charles Seger and the entire Virginia Tech campus community,” Parkyn said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were lost and with each person with ties to this sister institution of higher education.”<\/p>\n

The Chicago Police Department has told university officials that patrols are paying special attention to all local campuses. The university also has increased its on-campus patrols.<\/p>\n

A gunman killed 32 people and himself in a shooting rampage on Monday.<\/p>\n
