BROOKLYN PARK, MN (April 13, 2007) \u2013 The Covenant\u2019s own Navy Chaplain Lt. John G. Anderson is home from ministering to the troops in Iraq and will be speaking and sharing his experiences in the war zone during both morning worship services this Sunday at Redeemer Covenant Church.

\nAnderson, an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church, formerly served as Redeemer\u2019s associate pastor before following God\u2019s lead to become a Navy chaplain.<\/p>\n

\"Coffee\"He will speak during the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services, with a reception for his family following the second service. Redeemer Covenant Church is located at 7801 Brooklyn Boulevard in Brooklyn Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cJohn\u2019s ministry is truly unlike any other,\u201d says Redeemer\u2019s Senior Pastor\u00a0 Steven P. Anderson drew media attention when he opened a free coffee shop for U.S. Marines and sailors deployed with the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, where Anderson served as battalion chaplain in Camp Habbaniyah, Iraq.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted a place where they can come for a good cup of coffee and relax,\u201d said Anderson, 38, of Anoka, Minnesota, in an interview for the Defense Department\u2019s website. Coffee is not the only thing dispensed \u2013 there was time for spiritual conversation with the chaplain as well.<\/p>\n
