SOUTH LYON, MI (April 4, 2007) \u2013 Four people went under the baptismal waters and rose again during last Sunday\u2019s worship service at Crossroads Community Covenant Church.

\n\"Baptism\"The baptisms were the focus of the morning worship, says pastor Joe Muzzi. More than 200 people attended the service, which normally averages 160 in attendance.<\/p>\n

Later, during the afternoon, shovels of dirt were turned as part of groundbreaking ceremonies for the congregation\u2019s first building. The building is being constructed on farmland the congregation purchased during 2005, the year it joined the Evangelical Covenant Church.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a starter building,\u201d says Muzzi. The cost of the land limited what the church is able to initially construct. He adds, \u201cWe\u2019re on a great location in relation to the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

The building includes a narthex, children\u2019s area, and sanctuary. The church already uses a house and garage on the property for class space and a youth room. A barn also is on the land, but is unusable for ministry purposes.<\/p>\n

\"Groundbreaking\"The afternoon celebration included a \u201cbounce\u201d house, Easter egg hunt, and games for the children.<\/p>\n
