ARLINGTON, MA (December 18, 2008) \u2013 Highrock Covenant Church<\/a> is partnering with a local private school to start Highrock Covenant Preschool<\/a> (HCP).

\nThe church is teaming with Covenant School<\/a>, a ministry of Covenant Church \u2013 a nondenominational congregation without any other ties to the Evangelical Covenant Church. The school, which has operated for more than 20 years, currently educates children in kindergarten through eighth grade.<\/p>\n

The preschool will open January 5 and educate children ages three through five. Highrock pastor David Swaim says the school is intended to meet the needs of the large number of young families attending the congregation who live in the area.
\nThe students of Covenant School will visit the preschool to develop relationships with the children at HCP. \u201cWe believe that these older student relationships will help boost the self-esteem of our early learners as they develop friendships with the older children that they admire,\u201d administrators write on the school\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

The preschool is in a building that previously served as a nursery school as well as a church. The three classrooms initially will hold up to 10 children and possibly increase to 15 later. The school will teach values based on Christian principals, administrators say.<\/p>\n

Highrock has continued to grow since it was planted in the area in 1999. In 2006, it purchased the onion-domed Saint Athansius the Great Greek Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n
