\nIt\u2019s not the beginning of a joke. Some 20 members of Artisan Covenant Church<\/a> showed up for church dressed in Halloween costumes at the congregation\u2019s two worship services on Sunday. The church had encouraged members to show up, dressed up.<\/p>\n

\"Artisan\"It was all in fun as part of a community outreach event and the current preaching series, \u201cScarecrow: What are you afraid of?\u201d\u00a0 Scarecrows, says pastor Jason Condon, are \u201canything we think will protect us, but give us a false sense of security.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, the church worked with a neighborhood association to put on the Swillburg Spooktacular after the association asked if Artisan would be willing to partner with them.<\/p>\n

The evening included games and kids activities, along with a bounce house in the middle of the sanctuary that reached from the floor to the ceiling. The church set up a station for pumpkin painting and another where children can have their picture taken in costumes.<\/p>\n

The church will let the families know via email when the pictures are available online for download. Artisan will use the email only for that purpose, but Condon says the download arrangement gets people to visit the website at least once.<\/p>\n
