EUGENE, OREGON (October 24, 2008) \u2013 Valley Covenant Church will host a weekend lecture series \u201cA Weekend in Narnia\u201d November 21-23.

\nLecturers will be Michael Ward, author of Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C. S. Lewis<\/em>; Terry Glaspey, author of Not a Tame Lion: The Spiritual Legacy of C. S. Lewis<\/em>; and Richard Purtill, author of C. S. Lewis\u2019 Case for the Christian Faith<\/em> and Lord of the Elves and the Eldils: Fantasy and Philosophy in C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The three authors also will participate in a panel discussion prior to the Sunday morning worship service. Pastor Stephen Bilynskyj\u2019s sermon will be \u201cLooking for the Lion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dassel Church Hosts League of Minnesota Cities<\/strong><\/p>\n

DASSEL, MN – Dassel Evangelical Covenant Church<\/a> hosted one of the League of Minnesota Cities\u2019 (LMC) nine meetings held across the state.<\/p>\n

The LMC is a membership organization of more than 800 member cities. It serves members through advocacy, education and training, and policy development.<\/p>\n

The meeting was held Wednesday. Topics included alternative revenue sources and smart energy use. Additionally, league intergovernmental relations staff provided officials with an overview of the 2008 state legislative session and what to expect in 2009.

Kent Covenanters Begin Work on Congo School<\/strong><\/p>\n

GBADOLITE, CONGO – Members of Kent Covenant Church<\/a> in Kent, Washington, worked alongside Congolese to begin construction of a new school in Gbadolite.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see the frame, trusses and roof for a new school building go up in a week really seems like a miracle in a town that hasn’t had a new school building built for a number of years,\u201d says Keith Gustafson, Congo coordinator for the Department of World Mission. \u201cThe one elementary school and two high schools that will use the buildings are currently meeting in the shell of a hospital that was never completed. They were told recently by the government that they have to move out of that building, so the timing of this new building project is perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n
