LINCOLN, NE (October 15, 2008) \u2013 A memorial service for retired Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Paul Westburg, 98, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at First Evangelical Covenant Church. He died Monday.

\nWestburg was born December 2, 1909, in Stillman Valley, Illinois. He graduated from North Park Theological Seminary in 1934.<\/p>\n
He married Alice Johnson on September 16, 1936. She preceded him in death.<\/p>\n
Westburg served churches throughout the country: Mission Covenant Church in Lafayette, Indiana; Mission Covenant Church in Buffalo, New York; First Covenant Church in Duluth, Minnesota; Mission Covenant Church of Kansas City, Kansas; Brookdale Covenant Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop, Minnesota; Evangelical Covenant Church of Portage Park in Chicago; and Faith Evangelical Covenant Church in Essex, Iowa.<\/p>\n
Following retirement, he served as a visitation pastor at First Covenant in Lincoln. Westburg also previously served as chaplain at Covenant Palms, a retirement community in Miami, Florida.<\/p>\n
Westburg is survived by a son, Stuart Westburg. A son, Marshall, preceded him in death.<\/p>\n
