BROOKLYN CENTER, MN (September 22, 2008) \u2013 Brookdale Covenant Church<\/a> is hosting a Sandwich Generation Expo to spread information on caring for elderly parents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.

\nThe sandwich generation refers to adults who are caring for children and elderly parents.<\/p>\n

According to the Pew Research Center, nearly 10 million baby boomers are now raising kids or supporting an adult child while providing financial assistance to an aging parent. That number is expected to grow significantly over the next 10 years.<\/p>\n

A panel discussion with time for questions will be featured. Vendors also will provide information related to topics such as resources for low-income seniors, assisted living, moving and downsizing, and general financial advice.<\/p>\n

Covenant Pastor Leads Prayer at 9-11 Memorial<\/strong><\/p>\n

MT. DOR, FL \u2013 Mark Andrews, pastor of Bridges Covenant Church in Tavares, Florida, participated in the dedication of a local memorial in honor of police and firefighters who gave their lives on 9-11 and for local police and firefighters who have died while on duty.<\/p>\n

\"Firefighters\"Andrews (pictured at left in accompanying photo), who serves as chaplain for the Mount Dora police and fire departments, led the opening prayer for the ceremony, which was held on the seventh anniversary of 9-11. As many as 200 local firefighters, police and officials attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Fire Chief Ronnie Snowberger (also pictured), who is a lay leader at Bridges Covenant, laid a wreath of red roses at the memorial.<\/p>\n

Covenant Shores Extends Help Across Country<\/strong><\/p>\n

PLANTATION, FL – The executive director of Covenant Village of Florida sought prayer support for employees\u2019 families and friends who were missing or devastated by hurricanes and tropical storms that have ravaged the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Covenant Shores, a Covenant retirement community in Mercer Island, Washington, went the extra step. In addition to their prayer support, the community\u2019s spiritual life committee, chaired by resident Tom Heywood, sent $1,000 to Covenant World Relief<\/a> (CWR) to support its efforts in providing assistance.<\/p>\n
