GREEN LAKE, WI (June 26, 2008) \u2013 Delegates to the 123rd Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church approved the 2009 Mission and Ministry Budget of $20,545,000.

\nThe budget format reflects the work of all mission and ministry initiatives, including core operating budget ministries, but also affiliated ministries such as Covenant World Relief, Paul Carlson Partnership, Sustaining Pastoral Excellence, Covenant Orientation, short-term and project missionaries, and missionary in-country projects, among others.<\/p>\n
Mission and Ministry Budget entities include:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0World Mission \u2013 $9.27 million (45 percent)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Compassion, Mercy, and Justice – $3.17 million (15 percent)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Church Growth and Evangelism – $3.97 million (19 percent)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Christian Formation – $1.34 million (7 percent)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ordered Ministry \u2013 $1.65 million (8 percent)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0North Park University and Theological Seminary \u2013 1.14 million (6 percent)<\/p>\n
Because the work of the Department of Communication and General Administration serve all ministry areas, those two areas of expense are allocated to the various ministry initiatives commensurate with the contributions made in each ministry area. Those two areas continue to manage individual departmental budgets as do the other ministry areas.<\/p>\n
Lundgren outlined anticipated sources of revenue to support the 2009 budget as follows:

\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Directed individual and church giving \u2013 31 percent
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Individuals \u2013 5 percent
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Transfers \u2013 7 percent
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Communication sales – 4 percent
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Other support \u2013 11 percent<\/p>\n
