Church\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ecovchurch.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Congregational Covenant Church<\/a> recently raised $36,000 for two agencies assisting battered women.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The men raised the funds through their \u201cFlavors of the World\u201d dinner that included wine tasting, a dance, an auction, as well as coporate donations.<\/p>\n<p>The community also has been eager to support the dinner. \u201cWe have made this into a very visible cause,\u201d says Kevin Symmons, one of the co-chairs.<\/p>\n<p>This was the fourth annual dinner to benefit Womansplace Crisis Center, an emergency shelter, and <a title=\"HUGS II\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eastonhugs.org\/basehugs.htm\" target=\"_blank\">HUGS II<\/a> (Help Us Get Safe),\u00a0 a nonprofit organization that offers various services to combat domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>In the past four years the men have raised more than $130,000. They held the first event after taking an oath as part of the <a title=\"White Ribbon Campaign\" href=\"http:\/\/whiteribbonday.wordpress.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\">White Ribbon Campaign<\/a> to do whatever they could to stop domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>Symmons says he is grateful for the active support the men in the church have shown.
