BELL GARDENS, CA (January 8, 2009) \u2013 The Hispanic Center for Theological Studies<\/a> (CHET) will increase its educational outreach when it offers its first-ever online course later this month.

\n\u201cThis is only a part of the process we\u2019re enjoying as we grow,\u201d says Marv Gibbs, who will facilitate the Biblical Theology class.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal continues to serve the un-served and underserved,\u201d Gibbs says. \u201cThe Internet provides us with opportunities to help train students who don\u2019t have access to our classrooms or other such facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The course will run from January 20 to March 31. The cost is $225, which covers all associated expenses, including material and academic fees. Instruction for the course will be in Spanish, but students may submit written work in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.<\/p>\n

Students will need to invest six to eight hours of work each week, says Gibbs, who previously has taught at Azusa Pacific University and has 45 years of ministry experience in Latin America and the United States.<\/p>\n

The Evangelical Covenant Church school was formed in1989 and has been a theological and pastoral training center for Hispanic church leaders, pastors, and lay leaders. The online course is open to all who are interested.<\/p>\n

Academic credit is given to students who are qualified for bachelor\u2019s degree work. CHET graduates have been accepted by Fuller Theological Seminary, Azusa Pacific University, Vanguard University, Brite University, and North Park University and Theological Seminary.<\/p>\n
