CHICAGO, IL (May 4, 2009) \u2013 The Evangelical Covenant (ECC) is seeking a director of information services to lead the newly created Information Services (IS) Office for the denomination.
\n
\nThe ECC is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination with 800 churches in North America and ministry partnerships in approximately 30 countries. Click here<\/a> for more information about the Covenant and its work. Covenant offices are located in Chicago.<\/p>\n

The IS Office provides solutions and support for both information systems and the underlying computer and telecommunications infrastructure for Covenant offices. This position reports to the president.<\/p>\n

The director oversees and manages the mission of the office, creating and leading a vision for technology that can fulfill and complement the needs of ministry departments and the denomination as a whole. The position requires a high level of technical ability, team leadership skills, collaboration with varied multiple ministry areas, and audience sensitivity.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities include creating and implementing a multi-year, strategic technology plan; directing activities of the IS staff, including prioritizing individual and team tasks and projects; and identifying ways to sustain and grow talent, providing regular performance reviews.<\/p>\n

This position partners with ministry departments for database development and integration to provide the business intelligence tools that can easily and repeatedly deliver accurate and reliable information; ensures that proper controls are in place to comply with internal audits, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and any other relevant requirements, including a plan for business continuity and disaster recovery; develops a long-term plan for hardware procurement and deployment; ensures that proper licensing requirements are met and support contracts are active; identifies opportunities for consolidation; and pursues creative means to provide up-to-date resources and solutions while minimizing support and resource requirements.<\/p>\n

Other responsibilities include developing IS policies and standards that promote systems stability, support responsiveness, and minimize end user issues; overseeing a training plan for key personnel throughout Covenant Offices to reduce Help Desk requests and improve office productivity; communicating the department\u2019s goals and accomplishments to all Covenant offices, encouraging ongoing dialogue with end users about the best ways to respond to business and ministry needs; and preparing and managing a departmental budget that supports the overall technology strategy.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; a commitment to the mission and values of the Evangelical Covenant Church; a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field (preferred); five to eight years of related experience with proven skills in team leadership, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, and a desire to work in a team environment.<\/p>\n

This position requires excellent project management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills with particular attention to detail and accuracy, and a demonstrated ability to follow through on assigned tasks.<\/p>\n
