WASHINGTON, DC (February 13, 2009) \u2013 Evangelical Covenant Church ministers, as well as preachers of other faith traditions, may submit sermons related to global poverty as part of the ONE Sermon Challenge<\/a>, which began Wednesday and runs through April 15.

\n\"\"The challenge is part of ONE Sabbath 2008-9, ONE\u2019s effort to mobilize people of faith to speak and take action for others struggling with poverty and disease around the world.<\/p>\n

The sermons must be original and related to global poverty, says Adam Phillips, a Covenant minister who works with ONE. Sermons may be submitted in video, audio, and written form, and could be featured on the ONE Sermon Challenge website.<\/p>\n

Participants in the challenge will receive a ONE Sabbath Action Pack with materials that will assist congregations to host their own One Sabbath events. The pack will include ONE t-shirts, wristbands, as well as detailed advocacy and anti-poverty materials.<\/p>\n
