CHICAGO, IL (February 26, 2008) \u2013 An international ministry has selected two books published by the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) for placement in 1,000 prison libraries.

\nChristian Library International<\/a> is partnering with Christians for Biblical Equality<\/a> (CBE) to deliver All God\u2019s People<\/em> and Called and Gifted<\/em> to prison libraries. All God\u2019s People<\/em> was written by John Phelan, president and dean of North Park Theological Seminary. Called and Gifted<\/em> was authored by Sharon Cairns Mann, chair of the ECC Commission on Gender and Biblical Equality.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese books will minister to men and women at a point when they are searching for answers, providing them the good news of God and the dignity that God extends to women,\u201d states the CBE website.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese two books promote a biblically based understanding of our identity in Christ and seek to free men and women of false beliefs that steal or vitiate their true identity,\u201d Cairns Mann says in explaining the purpose of the distribution. \u201cFor those who have already lost so much, the content of these books holds the promise of setting them free, spiritually and emotionally, to serve others and to serve the living God.\u201d<\/p>\n
