CHICAGO, IL (February 1, 2009) \u2013 Third Day and David Crowder will be among the musical acts performing at CHIC 2009<\/a>, event organizers announced Saturday night. Other acts include Flyleaf and Israel Houghton.

\nThe announcement closed the Saturday night worship service at Connection 2009<\/a>, being held at the Hyatt Regency O\u2019Hare. Connection is a pre-Midwinter Pastors Conference event focusing on compassion, mercy, and justice across a spectrum of ministries.<\/p>\n

Third Day<\/a> has been one of Christian music\u2019s most popular acts. The band has sold millions of albums, including 25 number one singles. They have won Grammy and Dove Awards for music that has ranged contemporary worship to southern rock and included \u201cLove Song,\u201d \u201cSing a Song,\u201d and \u201cYour Love, O Lord.\u201d Lead singer Mac Powell penned the lyrics to \u201cGod of Wonders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Billboard magazine declared that the act is “not only one of the best Christian bands of the ’90s, but one of the best rock bands, period.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Crowder<\/a> has written some of the most popular praise music sung in churches today and participated in Passion music projects. He also has participated in several One Day projects and been honored by the three Dove Awards.<\/p>\n

Flyleaf\u2019s<\/a> eponymous debut album was released in 2005 and went platinum (one million copies sold). Their song \u201cI\u2019m So Sick\u201d appeared on the Rock Band 3 game. Flyleaf\u2019s hard-driving music confronts past traumas to heal old scars and prove in the process that hope shines brighter than despair.<\/p>\n

Israel Houghton<\/a>\u2019s project Alive in South Africa, recorded live in Cape Town, received a Grammy Award for “Best Traditional Gospel Album” in 2007. Two songs from the album, Not Forgotten and Turn It Around, received a Dove Award for “Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song” in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Both his album Live from Another Level and rendition of “Again I Say Rejoice” received a Dove Award in 2005.<\/p>\n

The triennial event is the largest Covenant gathering. CHIC 2006 attracted roughly 6,000 participants. It will be held July 12-17 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.<\/p>\n
