CHICAGO, IL (January 29, 2009) \u2013 Christianity Today<\/em><\/a> has named Klyne Snodgrass\u2019s book, Stories with Intent: A Comprehensive Guide to the Parables of Jesus<\/em><\/a>, as the 2009 Book of the Year in the biblical studies category.

\nSnodgrass is the Paul W. Brandel Professor of New Testament Studies at North Park Theological Seminary. He has taught at the school since 1974.<\/p>\n

“This is a superb culmination of career-long reflection on one of the most important genres in biblical literature,\u201d the contest judges write. \u201cReaders will be deeply impressed by Snodgrass’s exposition, his command of the relevant scholarship in the field, and the lucid quality of his analysis.”<\/p>\n

The book covers all of Jesus\u2019 35 parables and runs more than 800 pages, nearly 200 of which are endnotes. \u201cI didn\u2019t want it to be this long,\u201d Snodgrass said last year in a Covenant News Service online article<\/a>. \u201cIt took way longer than I thought. The process takes on its own life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snodgrass will lead Bible studies next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the Midwinter Pastors Conference in Chicago.<\/p>\n
