{"id":114,"date":"2009-01-28T19:55:06","date_gmt":"2009-01-28T19:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/newswire\/?p=114"},"modified":"2010-12-22T13:11:45","modified_gmt":"2010-12-22T18:11:45","slug":"6837","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/newswire\/2009\/01\/28\/6837\/","title":{"rendered":"New Leadership Training Event in North Pacific Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KENT, WA (January 28, 2009) &#8211; The North Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church will sponsor Leadership Matrix \u2013 a new leadership development conference &#8211; on Saturday, March 7, at Kent Covenant Church.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n\u201cWe invite your church leadership &#8211; pastors and staff; worship, adult, youth and children\u2019s leaders; councils, leadership teams and boards; finance committees and outreach ministries,\u201d says Krisann Jarvis Foss, the conference\u2019s director of ministries.<\/p>\n<p>Seminars will focus on leadership areas that include global ministry, youth ministry, children\u2019s ministry and pastors\u2019 leadership. The latest addition to the agenda is a seminar for church finance committees and treasurers called \u201cUpside of Mission in a Downside Economy.\u201d It will help churches deal with the current economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speakers at the event will be Dan Pietrzyk, director of Sustaining Pastoral Excellence, and Debbie Blue, executive minister of the Department of Compassion, Mercy and Justice. Pietrzyk\u2019s plenary session will address the topic \u201cLeading from Within.\u201d Blue\u2019s session will address \u201cHow the Church Leads Out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event will be held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Admission is $35 per person or $30 per person for groups of three or more from the same church.
