CONCORD, CA (October 12, 2009) \u2013 The Pacific Southwest Conference Superintendent Search Committee is seeking input on qualities desired for the next conference superintendent as well as names for consideration.
\n
\nSuperintendent Evelyn M.R. Johnson announced this summer that she would step aside from her role as of July 1, 2010. Johnson cited the need to spend more time with her husband, Phil, and her sense that a new leader is needed to help cast a vision for the Pacific Southwest Conference<\/a> and discern its strategic direction.<\/p>\n

All persons inside or outside the conference are invited to contribute their input by answering questions contained in a letter prepared by the committee. Click here<\/a> to download the letter.<\/p>\n

Answers should be emailed to Superintendent Search<\/a> or sent to any individual committee member by November 1, 2009. The list of committee members is included in the letter.<\/p>\n

The search committee was formed on July 31, 2009. In accordance with the conference\u2019s Constitution and Bylaws, the Conference Executive Board serves as the search committee, working in concert with the president of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The Executive Board has appointed advisory members to assure reflection of the conference\u2019s mosaic of churches.<\/p>\n

The committee has set a schedule for making its decision:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Between July 31 and November 6 – gain input from the constituency regarding characteristics desired in the next superintendent, priorities for the role, and names of potential candidates
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 November 6 – finalize listing of characteristics and priorities for role and identify persons to invite into the interview process
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 January 8-9, 2010 – interview potential candidates and select the nominee
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 April 23, 2010 \u2013 present the nominee for election during the Conference Annual Meeting at Mission Springs Camp and Conference Center<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
