CHICAGO, IL (December 20, 2007) \u2013 A special segment of Chicago Tonight on Chicago television station WTTW (channel 11), featuring the work of artist Warner Sallman, was originally scheduled for airing at 7 p.m. tonight. The special was featured in a news article posted Wednesday as part of this online Covenant News Service report.<\/p>\n

However, the television station announced at 5:40 p.m. yesterday a change in its plan, with airing of the special moved up by a day to air at 7 p.m. last evening instead. When contacted this morning, WTTW confirmed that online links to previously aired programming are not available.<\/p>\n
“We feel badly that those who had planned on tuning in this evening have missed the opportunity to see the special,” says Don Meyer, executive minister of the Department of Communication. However, Meyer says an article is being developed and a number of photos will be shared in a not-too-distant online news feature on Sallman’s art.<\/p>\n
Sallman\u2019s work currently is on display at the Billy Graham Center on the campus of Wheaton College. He is perhaps best known for his \u201cHead of Christ\u201d painting, which according to a recent issue of Newsweek Magazine has been copied more than one billion times.<\/p>\n
WTTW cameras captured three and one-half hours of footage during filming last Tuesday. Filming included LeRoy Carlson representing the Sallman Collection (being interviewed in accompanying photo), Phil Anderson from North Park Theological Seminary, and Paul Ericksen of the Billy Graham Center.<\/p>\n
The Sallman Art Collection exhibit is open daily to the public without admission (donations are welcomed) and will conclude on May 15.<\/p>\n
