TULSA, OK (October 29, 2007) \u2013 Members of Redeemer Covenant Church have been praying for their city and state all day and night for the past week.<\/p>\n

The church is participating in The Tulsa Year of Prayer, a cooperative mission with congregations throughout the city who commit to pray 24-7 for one week of this year.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cIt\u2019s been a great success,\u201d says Carol Sullivan, one of the three women who organized Redeemer\u2019s participation. All of the one-hour slots have been filled by individuals and families.<\/p>\n

The church transformed the congregation\u2019s chapel, which is separate from the sanctuary, into a 24-7 prayer room with various stations. Among them were opportunities for people to nail their prayer requests to a cross, take communion, and read scripture. To see scenes from the special room, see Place of Prayer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is such a humbling experience to open the door and feel the presence of God,\u201d participants have told Sullivan. \u201cPeople also have been humbled by the prayer requests.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sullivan is encouraged by the response. \u201cThe exciting thing is they want to continue to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The church\u2019s week of prayer began a week ago Sunday when members of the church who fulfilled the previous week\u2019s commitment participated in Redeemer\u2019s Sunday worship service by passing along a candle they had used in their prayer room.<\/p>\n
