To learn more about the makeup of the committee and the names of its members, please see a previously published online news story, Nominating Committee.<\/p>\nCHICAGO, IL (October 24, 2007) \u2013 November 30 is the deadline established by the Presidential Nominating Committee to submit names of individuals for consideration as candidates for the office of president of the Evangelical Covenant Church.<\/p>\n
The committee, which held its organizational meeting October 19 in Chicago, was formed after President Glenn Palmberg announced he will retire next fall. The 27-member committee was selected according to guidelines detailed in the Constitution and Bylaws of the denomination.<\/p>\n

A special nominating committee web page has been created and will be updated as new information becomes available.<\/p>\n
A confidential communications process also has been created to allow individuals to express their thoughts to members of the committee, as well as recommend names of individuals they believe should be considered as candidates for the position. The constitution requires that the president be an ordained ECC minister in good standing \u2013 a more complete summary of qualifications and responsibilities will be found on the nominating committee web page.<\/p>\n
Messages can be mailed in a sealed envelope to Brian Madvig, chair, Presidential Nominating Committee, 5101 N. Francisco Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60625, or may be emailed to Madvig and the Presidential Nominating Committee at ECCSearch@covchurch.org.<\/p>\n
The committee is scheduled to meet again on December 14 and 15, with another meeting scheduled for January 10-12, 2008.<\/p>\n
“The committee feels honored to be part of this important process,” Madvig said today. “We hope to represent the church well. Please be in prayer for our denomination and for us as a committee as we seek God\u2019s will for leadership in our church.”<\/p>\n
