MONTERREY, MEXICO (October 15, 2007) \u2013 Evangelical Covenant Church project missionary Lisandro Restrepo is quoted in a local Monterrey newspaper article concerning a recent panel Restrepo facilitated on world religion and domestic violence.<\/p>\n

“When a religious leader condemns openly and emphatically acts of domestic violence, the church grows in strength,\u201d Restrepo is quoted as saying. \u201cActs like these cannot tolerated or justified for religious people or church leaders.”<\/p>\n
The panel included prominent leaders representing Jews, Muslims, Christians, Catholics, and Buddhists.<\/p>\n
\u201cLisandro did an excellent presentation on this difficult issue that grabbed the
\nattention of the media,\u201d said Byron Amundsen, director of administration and finance for the Department of World Mission.<\/p>\n
The Covenant has had an important presence in Monterrey though a Covenant Family Foundation that trains and teaches believers and non-believers in family conflict resolution, the languages of love, and many other family oriented subjects, Amundsen noted.<\/p>\n
Restrepo and his wife, Patty, assist in restoring and reconciling families in a city where residents struggle with family crises like divorce and domestic violence.<\/p>\n
