{"id":10143,"date":"2007-09-28T13:43:47","date_gmt":"2007-09-28T18:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/newswire\/?p=10143"},"modified":"2011-08-08T13:50:27","modified_gmt":"2011-08-08T18:50:27","slug":"5850","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/newswire\/2007\/09\/28\/5850\/","title":{"rendered":"Covenant Village Opens Town Center, Apartments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TURLOCK, CA (September 28, 2007) \u2014 Culminating 16 months of  construction, Covenant Village of Turlock has opened the doors on  Redwood Lodge.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The $19.2 million building brings a  33,000-square-foot first floor of new amenities and two floors of  residential apartments to the 23-acre continuing care retirement  community, which is part of Covenant Retirement Communities of the  Evangelical Covenant Church.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 dignitaries,  residents, families and others involved in the development of Covenant  Village of Turlock\u2019s new mixed-use town center assembled for the recent  ceremonial ribbon cutting (accompanying photo).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we\u2019re  celebrating the innovative new resources the town center brings to  Turlock-area retirees, we want to pause and reflect on the Christian  mission that drives our quest for excellence,\u201d says Covenant Village  Executive Director Dwayne Gabrielson. \u201cThere\u2019s just one reason behind  all the research, all the expertise and all the effort that went into  this building. Centers for traditional and digital media, creative arts, and education  offer the potential for programming targeted to any interest. Gathering  areas, including a game room, large-screen TV viewing area and fireplace  lounge, are magnets for conversation and relaxation. A post office,  general store, and beauty salon\/barbershop add the convenience of  one-stop shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Because Redwood Lodge is connected to the  village auditorium, it offers easy access to large-scale events such as  worship services, entertainment and celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>The new town  center expands dining opportunities as well. A casual bistro complements  the restaurant-style service available in the formal dining room.<\/p>\n<p>All  but five of the building\u2019s 31 residences are reserved and residents are  moving into the apartments on the second and third floors. Available in  one, two and three-bedroom styles, the residences offer up to 1,450  square feet of living space. Each features a living\/dining\/great room,  full kitchen, and suite-style master bedroom. Many have dens.<\/p>\n<p>Eat-in  kitchens include solid wood cabinets, granite countertops, electric  stove\/oven, refrigerator\/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and garbage  disposal. Each apartment also has a washer and dryer. Underground  parking can accommodate 41 vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Residents can rent office  space in the third-floor business center, where services such as  photocopy and fax are conveniently available.<\/p>\n<p>Redwood Lodge  replaces a one-story building with the same name that was one of the  original buildings on campus when the community opened in 1977. It was  razed May 15.
