CHICAGO, IL (September 24, 2007) \u2013 The North Park University football team suffered a tough 21-14 loss to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, Saturday night.
\nNorth Park staked a 14-0 lead before the Engineers fought back with a touchdown in the third quarter and two more in the fourth.<\/p>\n
Vikings\u2019 quarterback Shelby Wood gave the visitors a 7-0 advantage with 2:10 left in the first half when he found junior wide receiver Chris Durr (Chicago\/Harper) for a 10-yard touchdown pass, which ended a seven-play, 53-yard drive.<\/p>\n
North Park then made it a two-score advantage when a nine-play, 64-yard drive ended on sophomore running back Kelvyn West\u2019s\u00a0 two-yard run at the 11:15 mark of the second quarter.<\/p>\n
But Rose-Hulman quarterback Derek Eitel threw three touchdown passes in the second half. Eitel completed 17 of his 37 passes for 311 yards, while Wood finished 16-of-32 for 140 yards for North Park. Durr added six catches for 63 yards. West had another big day on the ground for the Vikings, picking up 124 yards on 33 carries.<\/p>\n
In other sports news, the men\u2019s soccer team entered the week rated 12th in the country by D3kicks.com, but dropped two games, falling 1-0 to Dominican at home and then 3-0 to Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe played our best game so far, but just didn\u2019t get the result we wanted,\u201d said Bom of the Wednesday contest against Dominican (6-2-0), which is one of the strongest teams in the country.<\/p>\n
Carroll College (4-4-0) upset the team 3-0 on Friday. The Vikings hope to rebound when they open conference play in a 7 p.m. Wednesday contest against North Central College.<\/p>\n
