NAPERVILLE, IL (September 27, 2006) – North Park University Viking standout P.J. Eriksson became the second member of the men’s soccer team to be named Player of the Week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) on Tuesday.

Eriksson, a junior forward from Varnamo, Sweden, scored both goals in the Vikings’ 2-1 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday to open up CCIW play. Eriksson has four goals and one assist on the year, including 19 shots in leading the Vikings to a 7-0-1 record.

Last week, Austin Person was named CCIW player of the week.

Despite improving their record to 7-0-1 by defeating Illinois Wesleyan 2-1 and tying Concordia (Wisconsin) 1-1, the Vikings tumbled out of the national and regional polls of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The team had cracked the national Top 20 for the first time in the school’s history last week. The Vikings were ranked third in the Central Region last week, but fell out of the Top 10.
