ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL (September 6, 2006) – A memorial service for retired Evangelical Covenant Church Pastor Eugene Lundberg will be conducted at the Royal Palm Beach Covenant Church at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Lundberg died last Friday, just one hour before he would have officially observed his 93rd birthday.

He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on September 2, 1913. He attended the Drake University School of Music from 1932-1933. Lundberg graduated from North Park Junior College in 1937 and from North Park Theological Seminary in 1941. He was ordained in 1944.

Lundberg married Lillian Cannon on June 21, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She preceded him in death.

He served the Royal Palm congregation for 25 years, beginning in 1964. After his retirement from the church, Lundberg continued to preach at a retirement center until the age of 90.

Lundberg served as pastor at three other Covenant churches: Crookston Covenant in Crookston, Minnesota; Ishpeming Covenant in Ishpeming, Michigan; and twice at Bethlehem Covenant in New York, New York. Between his two pastorates at Bethlehem Covenant, he traveled the country doing sacred music.

Survivors include two daughters, five children and four great-grandchildren.
