Crunchy Conservatives? Read On . . .

Arlene Bishop of Berkeley, CA, writes: I would prefer book reviews in the Companion please. Let’s keep this daily news to activities of our Covenant churches.

Sharon Held of Lafayette, IN, writes: Why would this book review or any such book review be on our (and I am counting myself as part of the Covenant) “NEWS?” Are we trying to become more political? Seems we are being dragged that way . . .  and some of us out here do not like it! It is not representing all of us.

Family Weeps as Chaplain Redeployed to Baghdad

Kathleen Pearson of Woodbridge, VA, writes: Thank you for the information you share. In regards to this article, it saddens me deeply that the soldiers are stuck in Iraq. These soldiers need to be rotated and come home for a much-needed break. For all they do and for all they are, they need to be with their families as well. I am frustrated, but understand as well. My prayers are being said for the wonderful stand that these soldiers make. Everyone needs to take a stand in this process – then the load is a little lighter on everyone.

Martin L. Nelson of Rockford, IL, writes: Americans need to contact the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces and object, reminding them there is freedom of religion in this country. I suggest a petition be formed that would be sent to the head of chaplains – and that it mention that the Constitution be followed.
