Reedy, who has performed around the world including Kenya and El Salvador, is a member of the Covenant Church of Easton, Connecticut. She also has sung at numerous Covenant events. The “Christmas Spirit Concert with Adrienne Reedy and Friends” will be performed at 3 p.m. on December 9 at Mercy High School in Middletown, Connecticut.
Reedy’s friends include Janet Hubert, who played Vivian on the television hit comedy show “Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” and Jamie Patterson, one of Broadway’s best tenors. “I’m honored that they have all agreed to come do this for me and for the home,” says Reedy, who serves on the home’s board of directors.
Money raised will go toward the home’s capital campaign to build a $3.4 million two-story wing to house 10 youth and staff on the top floor, with a chapel and therapeutic recreation area on the first floor, says Cynthia Bartholomew, director of development.
The capital campaign began in fall of 2005 and work on the facility is scheduled to begin next spring, Bartholomew says. So far, the children’s home has raised about one-third of its goal.
The children’s home offers residential and outpatient treatment to youth ages eight to 18. Services include psychological support, academic assistance, life skills training, and family counseling. The average stay for youth in residential facilities is 18 months, Bartholomew says. Currently 60 young people live at the home,
Concert tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and may be purchased online at Concert Tickets or by calling 860-635-6010, extension 327.
