MINNEAPOLIS, MN (May 8, 2009) – A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 14, for retired Evangelical Covenant Church Pastor Norbert E. Johnson, 84, who died Wednesday morning in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be observed from 4 to 6 p.m. at First Covenant Church in St. Paul, with the funeral service to begin at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery on Friday.

Johnson was born April 6, 1925, in Gladstone, Michigan. He married Elaine Johnson on June 17, 1950. She survives.
Johnson was ordained in 1955. He served Lafayette Covenant Church in Lafayette, Indiana; First Covenant Church in St. Paul, Minnesota; First Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska; and North Park Covenant Church in Chicago, Illinois.
Survivors include two sons, Don Johnson, who is pastor of Montecito Covenant Church in Santa Barbara, California, and Tim Johnson, who is pastor of Bloomington Covenant Church in Bloomington, Minnesota; and a daughter, Carolyn Gabrielson of Turlock, California.
