At the recent event, 375 participants, including school staff and parents, completed five landscaping projects and redecorated rooms. Other projects included planting a garden and painting portions of the kindergarten playground. A teacher had planned the garden but had no idea how he was going to get it planted until the volunteers showed up, says Daisey Segal, of PCC. During the event, a Hispanic church that meets at the school provided a fiesta lunch.
The day provided the opportunity for the church to share Christian love, Segal says. “I talked to a Roosevelt parent who asked many questions about PCC and was overwhelmed with our service in the name of Jesus.” She learned her own lesson at the school: “The love of Christ can move a mountain—a mountain of ivy and junipers.
