“Dr. Jones has a distinguished career as a faculty member and academic administrator,” said North Park President David Parkyn.
Jones has been active in churches he attended and told the search committee that North Park’s commitment to integrating the Christian faith in addressing public concerns, including urban and multicultural issues, attracted him to the position.
Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and a master’s degree in psychology from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He earned a doctorate in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Albany.
Previous employment includes chair of the Department of Justice Education and director of the Center for Justice and Urban Leadership at Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He helped develop the graduate Social Work program at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York.
His areas of academic expertise include community engagement and revitalization, program evaluation, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and restorative justice.
Jones and his wife, Yvette, will soon move to Chicago and he will begin his appointment at North Park mid-summer.
