Erickson was born on November 7, 1921, in Chicago. She was married in 1941.
Erickson was instrumental in founding Bjorklund House, the first Covenant Enabling Residence. The residence for people with developmental disabilities opened in 1994 in Oak Forest, Illinois.
“She knew how to get things done,” says Jim Swanson, who chaired the Commission on Special Human Need for Covenant Women Ministries.
She is survived by two daughters, Karin Deitrick and Jenanne Anderson. Burial will be in Iron River, Michigan, at a future date.
The family suggests memorials in Myrtle Erickson’s name be directed to either North Park Covenant Church, 5250 N. Christiana Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60625, or to Barrett House, 185 John Street, Markesson, WI, 53946.
More information will be posted to this online Covenant news report as it becomes available.
